Sled Dog Rides/Tours

All Dog Sled Rides are given at Salmon Hills Outdoor Adventure Center in Redfield, NY from the hours of 9am til Noon any day of the week. Rides are given by World Class Sprint Musher and Multiple ISDRA Medalist Roy Smith from Boylston, NY.

All children under age 10 must wear helmet and ages UNDER 10 years we only offer a short 1-2 mile ride (with adult) for a fee of $25.

The rides we offer are a short 'introduction' to sled dogs and the scandinavian hound and are just shy of an hour in duration. The ride is given on the Salmon River Reservoir and we leave the South Parking lot of the lodge down to the reservoir. For this reason, we need the reservoir to freeze over before any rides can be given.

Teams of 8 to 14 dogs will be used with participants 'driving' the team of dogs with Roy carefully controlling them on a second sled. So you will see all the dogs right in front of you. Second person will sit in sled with blanket, goggles, etc. and you may switch positions on way home.

We also take a short break on the reservoir to let the dogs get to know you and run around for a few minutes, get to know your team please bring treats and "pick a favorite".

Prices are as follows:

(1) Adult $80
(2) Adults $150
(3) Adults $210,
(4)+ Adults (multiple sleds and teams) $65each.

Children under age 10 $25. This is a 1-2 mile ride with adult.

We also offer skijor lessons for $55 per hour.
Beginners take note that Roy's dogs are going to constantly pull so if you are an intermediate skier be advised on your basic ski skills.

ALL RIDES MUST BE COORDINATED WITH ROY at Roy@salmonhills.com or hounds@frontiernet.net
