Roy Smith is the owner-opperator of the kennel which normally consists of between 24 and 40 dogs. Started in 1991, ADK began with a few skijoring (skier gets pulled with aide of a sled dog) Siberian Husky's (WhiteWater Lake "Spook of Whitewater) from the kennel of Edgar Morey Jr and Sr from Fonda, NY (now the famous Outlaw Carts and sleds) and progressed to the point where we currently have 47 hounds focused strictly on Unlimited Class Sprint.

Since 2001 we have focused strictly on Open Class Sprint racing and have developed a different type of dog than in years past; a more passive dog yet eager to run and totally focussed on the distance of 12-20 miles and what that entails. Speeds are much slower in the beginning (18-19mph) with increasing speeds throughout the distance and finishing the last half at 20mph; unlike most of the limited sprint classes where speeds are reached right from the get-go well over 20mph. The muscle tone is also not as 'bulky' and is less 'defined' as in years past.

Adirondack Kennel also has given hourly rides, clinics and seminars to various groups, organizations and  public entity's. Roy can be reached by e-mail or phone if interested in such an event(s).
